New Sales Tax In The Woodlands

Post Category: Community — Greg Flory @ 8:36 pm

The Woodlands
On April 1, a new two-cent sales tax will go into effect throughout The Woodlands. The tax will help offset the cost of operating The Woodlands Fire Department this year. As a result, residents saw at least a 15 percent reduction in their assessments for 2008. The tax will be added to the 6.25 percent sales tax on goods sold in The Woodlands. The new tax is already collected in Market Street, The Woodlands Mall expansion area, along Texas 242 and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The following areas will be added April 1:

-Retail Stores throughout Town Center
-Retail sales in all village centers, strip centers, and free-standing stores in The Woodlands
-Home-based businesses
-Most telephone and internet services
