The Woodlands will host its 30th Anniversary Celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, January 20, 2007 from 10 am - 2 pm at a new venue this year - Town Green Park in The Woodlands Town Center. In addition to the traditional Tree-Giveaway , the family-oriented event will feature the birthday celebration for lovable mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone . Puffy has invited many of his local mascot friends to join him on his special day. Giant inflatable rides, face painting, free children’s gifts and free birthday cupcakes are highlights of the event. Over 28,000 tree seedlings in eight different varieties will be distributed free, continuing a 30-year tradition that began in 1977. This will bring the total distributed over the years to 780,000 tree seedlings that enhance the community’s forested environment.

Valero has opened a new 3,610-square-foot Corner Store , located at Ashlane Way and Woodlands Parkway. It is the first store in the company’s retail network to bake bread, tortillas, doughnuts, kolaches and other pastries on-site as part of its Corner Cookin’ program , which also features breakfast tacos and a variety of sandwiches. The store has a large coffee/cappuccino bar, ICEEs, and a state-of-the-art fountain drink dispenser where customers can choose from 16 soft drinks and add flavor shots.
