The Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) 2006 charity project is kicking into high gear with “Operation Holidays for Heroes”. WCR is challenging the entire County to help support our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq by either donating items for 1,000 care packages or by committing to one of five levels of sponsorship. “WCR is asking every Realtor, builder, mortgage and title company to join with us in helping make the holidays special for our troops,” said Becky Shannonhouse, underwriting chair and underwriter of the project. The corporate underwriters who have committed to date include The Woodlands Development Company, J.M. Wendell Builder, Inc., Mineral Resource Technology and Woodforest National Bank. Thanks for your support! For more information about “Operation Holidays for Heroes”, visit www.montgomerycountycares.com or call Becky at 281-719-6392
McVaugh Custom Homes recently broke ground on a 4.52-acre site for its initial development of Oasis Pointe Condominiums & Townhomes in Southern Coast. Southern Coast is an 18-acre tract of land featuring over 2,300 linear feet of water frontage on 200-acre Lake Woodlands, overlooking scenic South Shore Park. It is located within East Shore, the “Garden District” of The Woodlands Town Center.
McVaugh will build the first condominium building in East Shore containing 18 residences in a three-story building along the waterfront with dramatic views of Lake Woodlands. McVaugh intends to add two more condo buildings, bringing the total to 54 residences. McVaugh will also build 56 three-story townhomes, overlooking Rafter’s Row Park, combining urban landscaping and a linear water feature. Condominiums will range in size from approximately 2,000-2,300 square feet and be priced from the high $490’s - $680’s. The townhomes will range in size from approximately 2,600-3,200 square feet and be priced from the upper $590’s - $730’s. The condominiums were designed by Pappageorge Haymes of Chicago, and the townhomes were designed by Sullivan Stevens Henry of Houston, both in the Southern Coastal Vernacular architectural style
The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC), developer of The Woodlands, has purchased a 400-acre tract of land contiguous with the 28,000 acres that now comprise The Woodlands. The acreage is located at FM 2978 just west of neighborhoods now in development in the Village of Sterling Ridge, according to Tim Welbes, president of TWDC. Plans for the neighborhood, which will be called Spindle Tree, include over 900 homesites for single family homes and townhomes, two parks, and hike and bike trails. Children living in Spindle Tree will attend nearby schools that are part of the Magnolia Independent School District. New home prices will start in the $190’s and the first homes should be available for purchase in 2008. “The acquisition of this property will allow us to expand our new home offerings, particularly in the more affordable price range,” Welbes said.
