Patriotic Concert in The Woodlands

Post Category: Community — Michele Flory @ 11:33 am

The “Star-Spangled Salute” free concert kicks off patriotic activities in The Woodlands on Monday, July 3, beginning at 8 pm at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The gates open at 6:30 pm with activities for children and families in The Pavilion’s North Plaza including free pictures with The Woodlands’ lovable mascot, Puffy Pine Cone, from 6:45 pm until 7:45 pm.

This Independence Eve spectacular features the world-renowned Houston Symphony with a selection of patriotic favorites led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski. Highlights include Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis”, the “Overture of Oklahoma”, Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular “1812 Overture” complete with cannons fired from atop the hill and more. Joining the Houston Symphony in this patriotic tribute is American Idol Finalist and resident of The Woodlands, Will Makar. Makar will perform “Let Freedom Ring”, Prechel’s “American Sing-Along” and “God Bless America”.

A silent auction will be held at the concert by the South County 4th of July Committee. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to community charitable organizations. The Woodlands Development Company has sponsored the “Star-Spangled” salute concert since its inception in 1990.
