Honors For George & Cynthia Woods Mitchell

Post Category: Community — Greg Flory @ 11:31 am

The Woodlands’ philanthropists George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell have been named the first recipients of the USA COR Aurelio Peccei Lifetime Achievement Award by the United States Association for the Club of Rome.

The Club of Rome is an international think tank that deals with a variety of political issues relating to the environment, population growth, resource use and other major challenges. The Club was founded by Italian industrialist and scholar Aurelio Peccei in 1968. Its members now include scientists, businessmen, economists, international high civil servants and current and former heads of state.

“Cynthia and I are extremely honored to receive this award,” said George Mitchell. “We hope to leave a better world to our children and grandchildren, and everything we can do to help that process along is worthwhile.”
