Twenty-six percent of homebuyers are willing to pay more for a home on a cul-de-sac, according to a National Association of Realtors buyers’ preferences survey.

Existing-home sales surpassed market expectations and reached another record in June as low mortgage interest rates and favorable market conditions continued to attract buyers, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Stone is a Growing Trend for Home Décor

It’s as old as time, but as popular as ever. Stone is rapidly making its way into homes as perhaps one of the fastest growing decorating trends. The European Old World look brings with it not only a luxurious style but also an ease and comfort that gives a home personality.

Homeowners are leaving behind the once-preferred 70’s looks of wall-to-wall carpeting throughout the house, linoleum kitchen floors and vinyl tiles in the bathroom, and instead choosing natural stone, Versailles patterns, travertine, and limestone, with honed-matte finished surfaces. For countertops, homeowners are using two tones, finishing their kitchen island in maybe limestone and the surrounding kitchen countertops in granite materials for a unique style.

Three-Car Garage Becoming A Trend

Back in the 1950s, the one-car garage was standard in the 41 percent of homes that had any garage at all. More than half a century later, almost two-thirds of all new homes have two-car garages and on a nationwide basis, 19 percent have three-car or more garages.

“The home building industry is definitely seeing a growing trend toward the three-car garage,” said Jerry Howard, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders.
